Distribution of Hagfish (Myxinidae: Myxiniformes) in Taiwan

Hin-Kiu Mok and Ya-Wen Chen (2001) Fourty-two stations in northern, northeastern, southeastern, and southwestern waters surrounding Taiwan and 2 stations in the northern South China Sea were sampled by traps for hagfishes. Horizontal and depth distributions and numbers of specimens for 1 Eptatretus species, 6 Paramyxine species, and 3 undescribed Myxine species are reported. Paramyxine yangi exhibits a broader horizontal range than do other hagfish species in this region. Two stations in the northern part of the South China Sea were sampled; only P. yangi was captured at 1 of these stations.
