Lacunipotamon paper social media write up

Recent field expeditions in northern Vietnam uncovered a multitude of new and spectacular freshwater crab species belonging to the genus Lacunipotamon. The genus was previously thought to be endemic to China, with only three species prior, is now greatly expanded with eight new species, all from karst systems in northern Vietnam. The new species of Lacunipotamon from Vietnam are all noted for their brilliant and highly attractive colouration. The discovery of not one, but eight new species highlight the high yet sorely underestimated biodiversity in the poorly studied Vietnamese karst systems.
