Cambaroides
has Two Forms Too
East Asian freshwater crayfish is a group that has been
studied for a long time but is still very strange to most people in the
world. Unlike the crayfish of the Family Cambaridae, which has been
extensively studied, it is still controversial whether the adult males
of the genus Cambaroides
(Family Cambaroididae) have breeding form or non-breeding form. This
study mainly depends on Cambaroides
dauricus from the Hunehe River Basin of China, introducing that
the genus Cambaroides has
both Form I and Form II in adult males as the Family Cambaridae. The
author showed the morphology of the gonopods and chela from different
seasons in this report that will help people to understand the
differences between adult male Cambaroides
in different forms. The photo shows a C.
dauricus inhabited in a stream.
