Notes on the Diet and Size of the Upside-down Jellyfish Cassiopea

Jellyfish of the genus Cassiopea span the tropics and subtropics. While these jellyfish are now common research model organisms, little has been described of their natural ecology. In this study, we collect gut content from Cassiopea across their global range, recovering a consistent diet of small crustaceans and epibenthic prey. This consistency confirms that Cassiopea can be treated as a consistent ecological actor across our coastal oceans.
