Message from the Editor in Chief
We take up a responsibility for the academic society
Nowadays, journals often require expensive page charges/open-access fees to publish scientific research articles. Is it possible there are quality assured, peer-reviewed and open-access SCI scientific journals, in which colleagues can publish their research without these hefty fees? We, the Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, have taken up this responsibility. We publish a journal entitled Zoological Studies, to provide a free SCI open-access publication platform for colleagues to share their research achievements.
Publishing articles free of page charges does not mean that articles in Zoological Studies lack quality. All accepted articles have passed a formal review system. Impact factors are often used to judge the quality of a journal. However, article citations can be also affected by the marketing methods used in journals published by commercial publishers. We expect to maintain a respectable impact factor for Zoological Studies. All articles are 1) formally assigned a DOI number and are open-access on the web, 2) listed and housed in PubMed database and 3) promoted in our twitter and facebook accounts. We are not under the umbrella of any commercial publisher. All the editors and reviewers are volunteers. We hope you can support us by submitting your quality research to Zoological Studies, and subsequently upload your published articles in Research Gate to enhance citations as well.
