Revised Checklist of Branchiopoda (Crustacea) in Uzbekistan
The study reviews a knowledge on Branchiopoda fauna of Uzbekistan using literature data and original zooplankton samples. Two species of water fleas (Camptocercus uncinatus Smirnov, 1971 and Ilyocryptus spinifer Herrick, 1882) are newly recorded from Uzbekistan. The revised checklist of Branchiopoda in Uzbekistan comprises 107 species. Local faunas of different regions strongly vary by revealed number of taxa, which might be a result of unequal study effort. The best studied local faunas of Karakalpakstan and the Fergana valley display similarity to the local faunas of Tajikistan and the Mediterranean, thus confirming global distributions patterns earlier observed in Branchiopoda. The study will be suitable for further taxonomic and biogeographic research of Branchiopoda in North Eurasia.
