Description of Three New Species of Freshwater Atyid Shrimps from Hong Kong

The freshwater atyid shrimp genus Caridina is known to comprise several lineages, some of which were classified into species groups.  This study described three new species of Caridina from the C. serrata species group from Hong Kong, namely Caridina chui, C. bauhinia and C. argilla, with an integrative taxonomic approach, adding another evidence to the prevalence of cryptic diversity on earth. With the phylogenetic tree available, this study also took the opportunity to discuss the systematics of the C. serrata species group and proposed a more detailed diagnosis for the species group, with a view to facilitating the systematic revision of Caridina in the future.
